We would like to announce that we have decided to postpone the period of the Museum Network Fellowship
to November 1-14, 2020 with priority concern on the health and safety of participants and staff amid the spread of COVID-19.

Though exact application period needs to be confirmed following on the trend of the virus,
the second application will be open early April. We ask for your interest and please refer to the curriculum
for 2020's fellowship for more information.

2020 Museum Network Fellowship Program

PURPOSE

In an effort to shed light upon Korean Studies, the National Museum of Korea offers its eighth annual fellowship, entitled the 2020 Museum Network Fellowship. The program is designed to promote the advancement of museum related Korean studies overseas.


ELIGIBILITY

Given the program’s purpose, applicants must be non-Korean citizens. Thus candidates should not hold any relevant previous, concurrent and subsequent fellowships or academic research positions provided by any Korean institutions. Eligible candidates are overseas curators with degree on Korean / Asian Studies, working at museums or museum-related institutions, or researchers who have published thesis or articles on Korean / Asian Studies between 2015~2019(for 5 years). This is a bilingual program in which proficiency in English is required and fluency in Korean is also a plus for participation.


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The program will provide the participants with valuable opportunities to gain field experience in Korean culture through comprehensive lectures on museum related Korean studies, workshops, research and site visits around the country.

 - Buddhist Art of Koea
 - Korean Archaeology
 - Korean Ceramics
 - Korean Painting

 - Conservation Science

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

- A completed application form

- Updated CV showing publications and awards

- A reference from at least immediate superior / a copy of student ID with expiry date indicated

- A copy of current business card with department and position indicated

- A copy of proof document for each previous research achievement

   (Abstract of thesis, cover and contents of journals and article

PARTICIPANT BENEFITS

The participants will be provided with round-trip airfare (economy class), accommodations, regional tour expenses, traveler’s insurance fees and basic daily expenses for the duration of the program(Scheduled to November 1(Sun.)-14(Sat.), 2020.
