2019 Museum Network Fellowship Program

 

PURPOSE

In an effort to shed light upon Korean Studies, the National Museum of Korea offers its seventh annual fellowship, entitled the 2019 Museum Network Fellowship. The program is designed to promote the advancement of museum related Korean studies overseas.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Given the program’s purpose, applicants must be non-Korean citizens. Thus candidates should not hold any relevant previous, concurrent and subsequent fellowships or academic research positions provided by any Korean institutions. Eligible candidates are overseas curators with degree on Korean / Asian Studies, working at museums or museum-related institutions, or researchers who have published thesis or articles on Korean / Asian Studies between 2014~2018(for 5 years). This is a bilingual program in which proficiency in English is required and fluency in Korean is also a plus for participation.

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The program will provide the participants with valuable opportunities to gain field experience in Korean culture through comprehensive lectures on museum related Korean studies, workshops, research and site visits around the country.

 

More than 4 Lectures and Workshop (may include)

- Buddhist Art of Korea,

- Paintings of Korea

- Ceramics of Korea

- Ancient Architecture of Korea

 - Modern and Contemporary Art

- Archaeology of Korea

- Conservation Science

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

- A completed application form

- Updated CV showing publications and awards

- A reference from at least immediate superior / a copy of student ID with expiry date indicated

- A copy of proof document for each previous research achievement

(abstract of thesis, cover and contents of journals and article etc.)

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE

All documents should be submitted in PDF file by March 16, 2019 to eunjinyagu@korea.kr

PARTICIPANT BENEFITS

The participants will be provided with round-trip airfare (economy class), accommodations, regional tour expenses, traveler’s insurance fees and basic daily expenses for the duration of the program(Scheduled to
