* OBJECTIVE :
This exhibition explores the rich and varied art of the Congo peoples. Congo civilization share many artistic and cultural traditions, including body modification (like filed teeth, scarifications, and body painting) and social institutions (initiation and agrarian rites, healing, and mortuary rituals). The art of the Congo often represented spirits of nature and authority figures. Most of the African 75 objects exhibited here are made of wood, sometimes adorned with pigment, shells, beads, or pieces of metal.
